Encouraging News for John McCain

A new USA Today/Gallup poll shows John McCain leading, for the first time, among voters who say they are most likely to actually show up at the polls on election day.  The poll showed a 49% - 45% lead for McCain.  This reverses a five point lead Obama had in the last Gallup survey.

I know what you’re saying … poll results continually change and the election isn’t till November.  But McCain is leading among likely voters even after Obama’s much-touted whirlwind international trip and in spite of the media’s interminable love affair with Obama.   Could it be that the public is finally beginning to focus on the candidates’ positions on issues rather than glitz and hype?

  1. This is encouraging news. But as you allude to, there is still a long way to go. Go McCain!
