Senate Finance Committee Democrats Slam Older Americans

It couldn’t be worse for those the right-to-life movement seeks to protect. Not only will the proposed Senate and House health care reform bills increase the number of abortions performed, but older Americans will suffer greatly under wording in the Baucus Senate bill.    A provision in that bill will give great financial incentive to doctors to provide fewer and less-effective medical treatments. Medicare physicians who authorize treatments putting them in the top 10% of doctors who seek reimbursement for the highest per capita costs will be penalized financially.   Over time, this provision will keep driving costs lower and lower as doctors scramble to try to avoid being in that top 10%.  Result:  less treatment for seniors.

Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona offered an amendment to the Baucus bill to remove this provision but his amendment was defeated on a 13-10 party-line vote.

Will this nightmare ever end?  Yes, but only if these horrendous bills are defeated.
