Planned Parenthood: Save Government Monies by Having Fewer People
In an incredibly self-serving recent statement, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards intimated that government investment in birth control (and abortion, of course), would save taxpayer dollars because of fewer people being born.
“So, an investment in covering birth control actually in the long run is a huge cost savings because women don’t have children that they weren’t planning on having and all the sort of attendant cost for unplanned pregnancy,” Richards said on the Bill Press radio program.
Self-serving because Richards wants all of that dough for Planned Parenthood. Richards is trying to get the Obama administration (as National Right to Life warned months ago) to define birth control (which in its thinking includes abortion) as “preventative care” so PP can rake in even more taxpayer dollars under a provision of Obamacare.
Perhaps if she is successful, Richards will get another raise from PP. She currently “only” makes $385,163 (2008 numbers) plus another $11,876 in benefits. Let’s see, that’s over $1 for every abortion PP performs (324,008 recorded in 2008). It turns the stomach.
