President Obama Gets Even Cozier with Planned Parenthood

Poor beleaguered Planned Parenthood. Their roughest of years (stated by its President as a description of 2011) was so terrible, it has caught the attention of the President himself. In a recorded “special message” to Planned Parenthood’s political arm, the President unabashedly, and in some cases, incorrectly, spouts the talking points that are music to Planned Parenthood’s ears.

The most glaring omission in the President’s message is that he never mentions abortion! Imagine — talking to the nation’s abortion giant which gobbles up nearly a half billion of our taxpayer dollars each year while performing the vast majority of the nation’s abortions, and not even giving lip service to PP’s biggest and most lucrative activity. Why avoid this “dirty” word? Perhaps because it might conjure up the 329,445 abortions performed by Planned Parenthood in 2009 at a “modest income” of $148.6 million. Not exactly chump change.

Soothingly touting PP’s “preventive services” and its commitment to “women’s health,” Obama indignantly declares that women “are not an interest group.” He repeats the oft-stated untruth that PP provides mammograms, even though PP has admitted it only does referrals for mammograms. Taking the President at his word, one would believe that PP is the ONLY place where women can get pap smears and other health services.

But, President Obama saved his most important rhetoric for those horrible legislators who would deny Planned Parenthood hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, and the President makes it clear that he has been and will continue to be PP’s champion in ensuring that it continues to receive every penny. President Obama and Planned Parenthood — it doesn’t get any cozier as they are truly joined at the hip.
