Tidbits from the Pro-Abortion Democratic National Convention

  • Blog

It is so painful to watch — speaker after speaker at the Democratic National Convention kneeling at the altar of what Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com deems “abortion worship.” In some respects, it is truly a blast from the past. Apparently, the speakers and delegates have not assimilated the research studies which show that young people are overwhelmingly pro-life. The recent Gallup poll in which 50% of Americans self-describe as pro-life and 41% as pro-choice. Numbers of polls which indicate that Americans are not in favor of wide-open abortion on demand, taxpayer funding of abortion, no parental involvement, sex-selective abortions, partial-birth abortions, late-term abortions, etc. Undaunted, the party and its major convention speakers fully embrace abortion on demand with no restrictions, in word and by platform.

Here are some samples (Note how the speakers do not use the word abortion and instead speak in code using euphanisms):

Michelle Obama: “And he believes that women are more than capable of making our own choices about our bodies and our health care. That’s what my husband stands for.”

Nancy Keenan: “Put simply, women in America cannot trust Mitt Romney. We cannot trust Mitt Romney to protect our health . Mitt Romney would take away our power to make decision about our lives and our futures.” (Keenan is President of NARAL Pro-Choice America)

Governor Deval Patrick: “We believe that freedom means keeping government out of our most private affairs, including out of a woman’s decision whether to keep an unwanted pregnancy.”

Democratic Party Platform: “The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right…..”

Other interesting tidbits:

Planned Parenthood had its rally and only a handful of people attended.

Rep. Bart Stupak, the pro-life Democrat who betrayed his long-held pro-life values by giving President Obama the necessary votes to pass ObamaCare, admitted during a panel discussion at the convention that he now believes the President has violated the phony Executive Order Stupak negotiated which was supposed to prevent abortion funding. Referring to the horrendous HHS mandate which denies religious freedom, Stupak said “I am perplexed and disappointed that, having negotiated the Executive Order with the President, not only does the HHS mandate violate the Executive Order but it also violates statutory law.”

It will be interesting to see what the President says tonight, for he is certain to tip his hat to the pro-abortion forces which are now the base of his re-election campaign. At what cost to the President will be determined on November 6.
